Having Mary as the presenter of this story, speaks to how important it is not to silence the voices of women and girls. As through her, we glimpse what pressure this young woman from long ago must have felt, upon being asked to bring forth the saviour of the world.

The use of a theatre-like female and male cast to lend commentary to certain events was ingenious. As throughout the story, they appear giving their two cents, with the men being scornful and sceptical of this so called 'immaculate conception', while the women are impassioned and understanding, going so far as to comment on the patriarchy.
