I was really struggling to find a book I could get into after reading Ladder to the Sky because everything sort of just paled in comparison. You know when you read something excellent and it makes you realise that everything else is just kinda average. This was such a different style to Boyne that it avoided that fate. It was a breath of fresh air and I think I’m back now, so I’m grateful to Yara Rodriguez Fowler for that.

I found the structure slightly confusing at times though, and it took me until the end of the book to realise who everyone was in the different timelines. Didn’t make it any less enjoyable, just made me feel a little slow.
