The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley

3.0

Steven Rowley returns with a delightful sequel to the charming original, "The Guncle." In "The Guncle Abroad," we once again follow the adventures of Patrick, an actor and beloved Guncle, and his niece and nephew, Maisie and Grant. While the original story was a light-hearted and heartwarming read that I thoroughly enjoyed in 2023, this new installment takes their adventures to Europe, adding a fresh backdrop to their journey.

"The Guncle Abroad" is an enjoyable read, though it does make me long for the unique magic of the original. The first book beautifully captured the transformation of a self-centered uncle into a devoted family man capable of profound love and care. This sequel continues to explore themes of love and connection, with a focus on love languages woven charmingly throughout the storyline.

Although it may not quite capture the same enchantment as "The Guncle," "The Guncle Abroad" still offers a heartfelt and engaging narrative. For those who loved the original—and if you haven't read it yet, you absolutely should!—this sequel is an enjoyable read. It extends the heartfelt journey of Patrick, Maisie, and Grant, reminding us of the enduring power of love and family.
