We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
5.0
Every year Cady spends the summer on the private Island owned by her Granddad near Martha's Vineyard. Her and her cousins Johnny and Mirren, and Johnny's friend Gat are the Liars. They are close in age and are inseparable every summer. But on her fifteenth summer, something happens and everything goes terribly wrong. The problem is Cady can't remember what happened and her mother won't tell her. The next couple of years Cady struggles to put the pieces together while she suffers horrible migraines. She spends her sixteenth summer in Europe, missing the Liars, and when she returns to the island for her seventeenth summer she finds them evasive. No one- not her mom, her aunts, her granddad, her cousins, or the Liars- will tell her what happened. But with the clock ticking, her seventeenth summer will be over and she's afraid her memories may never come back.
This book was AMAZING. The writing style is a little different, telling everything in shorter segments and bursts, but it works well to tell the story. The characters are well done and relatable. And the twists, well, the twists are chilling and epic. This book is so well done and I can't wait to read it again!
