The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan

4.0

This was chilling and fascinating. About the way we judge mothers, rely on surveillance and look for justice in the worst ways possible. Very handmaid’s Tale energey

“She’ll teach her daughter to be different. To be brave and wise. Have dignity. That fucking a man who doesn’t love you. Who decided that he doesn’t want you, even the father of your child is no better than a fork in the eye.”

“When someone desired her she simply felt more alive. Pulled into a different, better future.”

“Life would have been different if her parents had held her. But she won’t blame them. It wasn’t be a straight line from there to here. She used to think it was a reason not to have a child…But she told Gust she’d be different.”
