This was an absolutely beautiful ending to a wonderful little series!
As much as I've enjoyed the overall plot running through the entirety of this trilogy, the individual romances in each one are what made them truly special to me. Jack and Alan are probably my favourite out of the three, even though I'd fight for Violet and Maude, Robin and Edwin too.
I really loved the way that Jack continued to be grumpy and irritable, yet somehow became endearing and lovable through the his connections to the other characters. His platonic connections, in my opinion are just as valuable in making him a more likable personality, as his romantic entanglement with Alan.
Alan is absolutely one of my very favourite characters. I loved him during the second book, but I fell for him even more in this one. His cheeky personality and his lack of respect for his 'superiors' were heartwarming and fun all at once.
The plot in general took a few fun twists and turns which kept me hooked throughout!
Freya Marske is definitely one of the best fantasy writers out there. The gorgeous writing style and attention to detail, particularly regarding the time period, really added another layer of enjoyment for me.
