Mona by Pola Oloixarac

4.0

Mona has one of the best opening chapters I’ve ever read—I was instantly hooked. The prose as well as the references to intellectual ideas enhanced the premise of the book and illuminated the inner world of the main character beautifully. I was particularly impressed by the dialogue, and the way the narrator wove in and out of the characters’ thoughts. I was a bit surprised and let down by the ending, but I will continue to ruminate on it before solidifying my opinion on it. Overall, a great read! Especially for readers and writers.
