The Pairing by Casey McQuiston

5.0

I have been excited to read this for months! I was looking forward to it so much that I was worried I’d hyped it up too much in my head and the reality wouldn’t live up to it. That worry only lasted a couple of chapters…

Basically, unsurprisingly, I’m totally in love with this book and every single character in it!

Theo is such a complex character and I found them addictive! They just really intrigued me from the start and the more I read and unraveled their history and personality etc, the more i understood them and the more i grew to love them.

Kit is an absolute sweetheart and it’s impossible not to fall in love with him from the very beginning. His quiet confidence and vibrant creativity just makes him an absolute joy to read about.

The side characters are also brilliant. Fabs and Orla had me laughing so much and I’d honestly read a whole spin off about the Calums!

Regarding the story itself, it was very captivating. The pacing was perfect and I enjoyed the whole ‘second chance’ element. It’s like a beautiful journey of self discovery topped off with the perfect horny and queer adventure.

I feel like Casey McQuiston handled the spicy scenes perfectly in this one. I love how they explored so many of the different ways sex can be experienced. It was interesting to see how both mcs react in sexual situations since they’re both such different people.

Overall, the only remotely negative thing I have to say about this book is that made me want to eat a lot cheese and drink a lot of wine!
