House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I bought the hardcover of this book when it was released but never read it until book 2 came out, expecting major cliffhangers and tons of questions left unanswered. While a lot of this book was world building and sooooo much slow burn teasing, the last part of the book had TONS of parts that made me cry. When Lehabah sacrificed herself. When Ithan came to help Bryce save people from demons. When Hunt sacrificed himself for Bryce not knowing she would be able to heal him. When Danika helped Bryce make the drop. I thought the ending was actually really satisfactory for a book 1, and left a lot to be excited about but didn’t feel wildly unfulfilling like a massive cliffhanger would.

AND I LOVE THE OTTER MESSENGERS.
