I have yet to read The Silent House - I have the book, but haven’t yet found the prerogative to actually pick it up (No, don’t kill me yet.)

So when I found the opportunity to read and listen to the second book in the protagonist’s unintentional quest to solve mysteries - I didn’t resist and picked it up immediately!

Paige Northwood, is the only hearing member of her deaf family - and now lives with her sister.
She freelances as a BSL interpreter whenever and wherever requested and required. Today, she gets a call for her help at the School for Deaf - a school that her sister also went to - a cal to help when a young teenager goes missing in the midst of a camping trip.

What Paige doesn’t expect is that her ex - boyfriend, with whom she had a traumatic and abusive relationship with, is now an employee of the school. And while she takes a vow, not to go investigating on her own; somehow that vow takes a nosedive when she finds herself being involved in the two simultaneous cases that are in want to be solved.

This is the second book in The Paige Northwood series, though it didn’t seem like I was actually missing anything from the first book - the author has done an amazing job of actually putting the strings together to make sure that the reader didn’t ind themselves lost.

The mystery was quite intriguing; and the way Paige handles, not only her own vulnerabilities but also the case itself in spite of the danger it posed, had me thoroughly invested in the book from the start till the end.

Definitely worth a read, especially if you are a lover of mystery and thriller genre and would love to read something new.
