Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This was my FAVOURITE read of the year (so far!) What a POWERFUL read. I held off on reading this one as there was so much Hype around it and did not want to disappoint myself if I felt it wasn’t worth it. I was so so wrong. I did struggle for the first few chapters thinking that it wasn’t going to be as good as it was mentioned to be, but as I kept going I noticed how much that background information was required for the rest of the beautiful and sad story to play out. Many of the societal issues and problems raised in this book still exist today which just breaks my heart. It opens your eyes to preconceived judgements, isolation and how that impacts behaviour, and the power of love- friendship and romantic. If this is on your TBR I could not recommend a more amazing book!
