Best Friends by Shannon Hale

This is a nice follow-up to Real Friends. It does a great job describing how hard it can be to keep up on social rules in school (what's in now?!) and the awkwardness of growing from elementary age to middle/junior high age.
My daughter has had a really rough time with friendships - she was bullied at her first school (by kids, teachers, and the administration - thanks ADHD and poorly trained staff!), and it's made friendships hard. She had to relearn to trust her peers, and she desperately wants good friends who care about her the way she cares about them. This series has been wonderful for helping her see that we're all weird and it's hard for all of us to navigate this.
