Black Widow, Vol. 1: S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Most Wanted by Mark Waid
5.0
Love love! In this Black Widow is being blackmailed by a man known as the Weeping Lion. He has a big secret of hers and if she doesn't get the files he demands, he'll release it to the world. Along the way she ends up betraying SHIELD and finds herself in Russia where a new Red Room has been created.
I love the art- it's such my vibe and I love how colorful it is. I love that this comic really lets the art do the talking, especially in action scenes instead of having tons and tons of dialogue chunks. They really said a little less conversation a little more action baby.
Natasha is so badass in this. I wish we had gotten some inner monologue instead of her being so mysterious though. Some of the plot I just didn't get like did she really have to play along? It didn't seem worth it to do all this, idk. I get why but I was just thinking why doesn't she just tell literally anyone?
BUT it was a really cool spy thriller of Natasha on the run and kicking ass. My favorite Black Widow stories are the ones like this, where she's deep in espionage and ass kicking and not just hanging with the squad fighting aliens.
