Batting Style by Louisa Masters

4.0

Batting Style is a really sweet, easy read that I couldn’t put down!

Jordan Marks is a baseball player at FU who is honestly one of the sweetest, most thoughtful characters I’ve read in a while - he’s always looking for ways to help his friends out and is so generous with his time and his actions. He meets Blaise when he needs a new suit and sparks fly between them immediately even though Jordan was decidedly straight before then. Blaise Warner is an aspiring costume designer who is working a retail job to save up for an unpaid but really prestigious internship. He’s built a family of his own with his friends and has spent the past couple years relying on himself to make ends meet.

The two of them click right away and I loved their obliviousness about their relationship status - it was so fitting for both of them. They come from really different backgrounds but seeing them fit so well together and support each other in their passions and endeavors wholeheartedly was so fun to read. Their friend groups couldn’t have been more different, but they all meshed so well. While the conflict built for a while without either of them knowing, it felt realistic and I could empathize with both of them - I wanted them to work it out fast, but loved how it all worked out in the end.

I’m DEFINITELY going to have to go back and read Louisa’s Joy Universe series after reading this one! And, of course, can’t wait to read more FU books soon!
