Lair Rising by D.V. Sullivan, D.V. Sullivan

5.0

Adrian & Aurora: These Two Put Me Through It! But, I Loved It! 5 Stars!

Book Two, LAIR RISING we jumped right back into the action of Adrian and Aurora and their quest to make Adrian's dreams of a human life come true. All they have to do is take down the Commodore (Volkov) to do it. Which obviously, isn't an easy task. However, the couple is determined to see it through and make this happen in order to have a future together free of Adrian's need to feed off humankind for survival.

Adrian and Aurora along with Mr. Colding and Captain Redfern concoct a plan to take out the Commodore's son, Radomir. However, things go incredibly wrong as Adrian is captured and released... along with his presumed dead wife, the beautiful Evangeline. Needless to say, this brings a whole crapload of tension and puts distance between Adrian and Aurora. Evangeline pretty much makes it clear from Day One that she wants her husband back. However, are her motives genuine or does she have a secret agenda?

Once again, Author David Sullivan has impressed me with his storytelling skills in LAIR RISING. The appearance of the first Mrs. Voper threw me for a loop and there were so many times I wanted to yeet my Kindle based on the actions the main characters in this book! Nevertheless, the tugging of emotions I experienced is what made the literary ride so worth it. The reader will see a very determined yet vulnerable side of Aurora as her insecurities reach new heights with Evangeline's presence. The reader will also experience the humble side of the powerfully stoic Adrian Voper, who is stuck in the middle of a maddening tug-of-war between two women he loves. So, if you crave a book serving a generous portion of the OWD trope with lots of emotional angst, LAIR RISING will certainly deliver!

Given the actions at the end of RISING, it will be very interesting to read the next book, LAIR RECKONING! I can't wait to see if and how everything will be resolved! Author, Sullivan scored another hit with this book and so far is a two-for-two in this series!

Happy reading!
