A solid 5 stars! No need to round it up because it was that good. This is my first book from this author, and I was surprised because I wasn't expecting to like this so much, the writting style was great and it had a great pacing as well.

While I imagine that this is better read in order because other characters appear, I still came to love the cast, they were fun and the focus was still mostly on the main couple and that's something to highlight because I've read other books where authors miss this point and give more light on others when it should be the two main characters at front. This didn't have that problem thankfully. The subplot is balanced along with the romance, and I loved following each detail from David's self discovery journey.

Both MCs were amazing. I really liked how Cy goes from an asshole. although he wasn't that bad, to a guy who wants to become better for the person he's in love with and to protect those he cares about. He was just grumpy and wanted his independence, something that can be understandable, I honestly didn't judge him for his behaviour at the beginning, because he was still attentive towards David once he sensed something wasn't right. Now onto David, he's now one of my favorite characters. A sweet guy that sadly was taken advantage of, and no one from his circle stopped it. I think the way it was handled was realistic, denying that you were abused takes a lot and it isn't easy, but it was very nice to see his growth, to become David.

There are many other elements I liked from the book as well. From David's recovery, to getting to know himself and build up his self steem, as well as discovering new things in life such as his passion and own powers (not only metaphorically speaking in this case), getting a job, making friends, having confidence, experimenting with his sexuality and falling in love. It was sweet, and I love how Cy always made it about David having choices. The romance between them was a delight. There is lust combined with love, and I adored to see both of them fall, they truly belong with each other, it's lovely to see them support and give the other strength to grow into more like themselves.

Lastly, I'm also a fan of kidnapping and unwanted suitors subplots , I adore the whole saviour/survivor dynamic, which is why those scenes here had me turning the pages quickly. The tension was well done, and while it was predictable towards the end, I wasn't expecting
Spoilerthe mark bite, or David almost dying
, it was thrilling! Anyway, I can't wait to read more from this series, it was a nice journey and it's become one of my favorite books.

PS. I forgot to mention this but I had to add it... the hungarian nickname Cy used to call David? So adorable.
