The Traitor Queen by Trudi Canavan
4.0
Awesome conclusion to the Traitor Spy Trilogy, another story arc set in the same universe as the Black Magician Trilogy.
This final novel included lots of political intrigue with a good dose of adventure and magic and just the right amount of romance.
The strengths in this novel as well as the others are the characters and worldbuilding. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the various cultures, their views on magic, as well as gender and different classes systems.
Canavan's novels are definitely more character-driven than plot-driven, so if you aren't into character-driven writing with lots of rich, diverse characters, you may not enjoy this as much as I did.
I surely hope more novels are written in this universe, perhaps jumping ahead another 10-20 years to show the repercussions of what happened in this trilogy. Also, would love to see how the problem of roet is/was addressed.
