The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones
4.0
Listened to this one on audiobook during a long road trip. Loved the narrator. The story itself dragged pretty significantly, especially toward the end. There was tension and then way too much exposition before rolling back into the tension again, which was aggravating and frustrating instead of titillating. But the story itself was really intriguing. A great mix of revenge and cultural storytelling.
I was not prepared for the amount of pet death. I expected animal death in general as I knew subsistence hunting was a large part of it, but the pet deaths were shocking. It’s definitely a horror story, that’s for sure. Over all, a well done interpretation of a monster story with a unique angle that I enjoyed listening to!
