Milkman by Anna Burns

5.0

This stream of consciousness from an eighteen year old middle sister gripped and dragged me through the Troubles. With layers and layers of personal, intimate, psychological, funny, dangerous truths of her story, family lives, women’s experiences, community attitude, paramilitary and the other countrys’ cultures, beliefs and impact.
Extraordinary.
It took me a third of the book to feel lulled by the writing style and it was worth every second of my adjustment.

I’ll be reading more Anna Burns.
