This is a super fast paced novella. With just under 70 pages, we don’t get much in terms of getting to know the characters and developing a more in-depth plot. However, for such a little thing, boy does it pack a punch! I hope this author keeps writing dark romance because they sure do know what they’re doing! In a short amount of book, we get a very tense, spicy intro to a small-town, forbidden romance. Some quick tropes for ya include: Stalker anti-hero, preacher’s son, curvy virgin yet tough as nails FMC, Halloween carnival setting, religious themes, non con/dub con etc. Took points off because of some grammar mistakes. I also did not understand some of the religion references. At times, it felt very Catholic, but they refer to a “preacher’s son,” Bible camp, etc. which would be something else. I think the author mixed in Catholicism with a Christian Baptist or Evangelical structure. I don’t think non-Catholic branches of Christianity refer to their preachers as “Father.” Unless it’s a very progressive Catholic denomination??
