Fantastic! Another exciting and moving fantasy adventure, and imo one of the best of the series.

This can be read and enjoyed without previous knowledge of the series. A new content, new species of dragons and of course new lead characters. We have a strong sibling relationship, queer dragon mommas, unlikely friendship and some cute bits of romance.

But the part that really knocked me on my ass was the amazingly nuanced depiction of oppression, classism, and institutionalized slavery. Here some very “adult” issues and ideas are laid out in very plain ways that a young reader can clearly understand all the very complex reasons why oppressive systems come to be, persist, and most importantly why they are fundamentally wrong.

This is a fantastic way to prime a young reader for more complicated, contemporary books about injustice and social reform. Where they can enjoy fantastical worlds, fall in love with wonderful characters while learning about the ugly aspect of war and oppression.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 👍🏽
