Dark Side of the Cloth by Brooklyn Cross
4.0
“If he did believe in God, he would’ve said this woman was an angel dropped from the sky.”
From the Cartel, to the army, The Righteous, Dean has finally found a place where he can belong: as the priest of a small town. As tragedy after tragedy seems to follow Yasmine around, she finds solace in her job as a funeral house director. When Dean and Yasmine’s paths continue to cross, and secrets continue to unfurl, can they both move past their tragic pasts or will everything come undone?
“Como las flores de primavera me recuerdas que todavía hay bien en el mundo.” Like the spring flowers, you remind me that there is still good in the world.
This book was phenomenal! One of my favorite things about this book was that both characters have such heartbreaking pasts but their relationship with each other helps them cope. Another thing I loved is the Latine rep! Dean is Latino and there are a couple occasions where he speaks Spanish and I just loved it! Andddd the Spanish is correct (a rarity)! There is so much I enjoyed about this book and the writing, I can’t wait to continue the rest of the series!
Note: check TW/CW! This is Book 1 of an ongoing series. This book contains light taboo/religious elements, lots of secrets & themes that are not suitable for everyone.
Thank you to Brooklyn Cross and the SmutHood for this free backlist copy. This review was written honestly & voluntarily based on my own enjoyment of the book.
