The audiobook is a must, because Ell Potter's various accents as Emily and the other characters, and Michael Dodd's Wendell are so effing charming. This second installment of the Emily Wilde series was just as good--if not better--than it's predecessor, and somehow is a bit more fast-paced and at higher stakes than the cozy fantasy of EW1. That said, it's retained the Emily Wilde charm, and if I thought book 1's main characters were reminiscent of Sophie Hatter and Howl in Howl's Moving Castle, book 2 had several situations that were also very much Howl-coded. (The doors?! Frigging fantastic example of that.) Ugh. Definitely book of the year.

I've yet to read an actual hard copy of this book, so be prepared to see me gush about this a third time this year.
