So, I'm pretty bummed. I wanted to love this, and I thought I was going to because I love Bardugo's writing, but this... this just bored me, and the further it went on the more bored I got.

I didn't particularly like any of the characters. I guess Darlington was the most interesting, but even he was bland, also he was hardly in the book at all. It was also hard to connect to any of the characters, as none of them seemed to have much of a personality. That might have a lot to do with the book mostly being told as a narrative, rather than through dialog that could show their personalities. This also leads to the book feeling like it's only info-dumping.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the non-linear timeline, I don't like it when any book does this, so it's not exclusively this book that I don't like it in.

I don't think this is a book that I would come back to try again, I try to keep an open mind about whether I'll try a book at a later date. But when it comes to this book, I don't think I will.
