I thought The Family Upstairs was so intense and I thought this one had dialed back the intensity but still kept me intrigued and interested. The story moved quickly and there were definitely still moments where I was gasping. However, I didn't feel like there was as much of the mystery and suspense as there was in the first one. I liked the connecting characters and the way the story continued with ease from what previously happened. It didn't feel forced and the characters picked up with ease. I also love Lisa Jewell's writing and I love the trans-atlantic setting in this one. I was captivated, but I do think the end was a bit more abrupt than I expected.
