Where do I start? I can say that I liked the fact that this was fast-paced. I wanted a few more chapters after the last one.. 🙃
This story made me realize that no matter your achievements, who you are and where you come from remains. The crazy part in this story was that Ellice hid the parts of her that she wasn’t proud of - hoping to protect them from people in her present life. Not realizing that everything has a way to be found.
All secrets are hanging in the distance. And people will use your not so pleasant times against you.
I’d say she didn’t want that spilling over, hoping to not keep being reminded of the things she’d escaped from.
I loved the family aspect of this story, as I feel it gave a look into the reality of the lives plenty of black folks. Dealing with BS, trying to escape the past.
Overall, this book was a good one. I will be picking up more of this authors works!
