ALL THE STAR! THIS BOOK GETS ALL THE STARS! With so many things to love, it's hard to pick a starting point. This was the perfect blend of new adult fantasy with a bit of dystopian vibes as well as the perfect enemies to lovers sub plot. Plus, there are literal dragons and that alone could have kept me invested. I thought the academic setting was so interesting and well done. I loved all the challenges and "games" that each character had to go through to survive. Speaking of characters, Violet, the FMC is unmatched. Her determination, fierceness, and self-awareness was incredible. I also thought the dialogue with her and other characters was so good and I loved the little sarcastic moments from time to time. I think this is everything I could have asked for in a new fantasy series. While the romance was amazing and I love Xaden so much, I really liked that Violet developed so much on her own. The dragons were bad-ass and I thought all the history and magic surrounding them was so cool. I am completely obsessed. The world building was great and the pacing of the story kept me fully hooked from beginning to end. There was no lull or waiting for things to happen because the action was non-stop. I cannot wait for book two especially after those last 20 pages and I am so excited to see what Yarros will do next!
