Gwen has to navigate her new role as Queen, the loss of her father, and the pressures and responsibilities of ruling her Kingdom. Her emotional journey is raw, but she is determined and fierce, and has her loyal guard Tyreal by her side.
As a royal and guard their love is forbidden, but the tension between them is intense. I enjoyed their chemistry, the mutual pining, the flirting and banter, and the bond they share.
I loved all the political scheming, the drama and action, and all the steamy one bed scenes.
There are lots of sub plots building the tension and intrigue, fantastic and diverse side characters with fun personalities, and a hidden world of magic, prophecies and curses.
Excited to see more of this series as the stakes increase.
