Drama is a fabulous graphic novel for tweens-early teens and even us adults who remember with mixed feelings our days in high school theatre. The main character, Callie, is a creative, confident, funny seventh-grader. Through her challenges with boys and set designing the school play we get to see her remaining true to herself and communicating her feelings. I think it gives a really good message for tween girls (in a believable, non-preachy package) that romance (straight or gay) can be great and it's normal to think about, but you are also a really awesome, creative, unique, special person just on your own.
