Sacred Heart by Liz Suburbia
4.0
Super weird but I ended up kind of loving it? Sacred Heart starts out as a story that could've taken place at my high school: different groups of teens, friends navigating new relationship boundaries, punk band antics, drugs and alcohol and parties. The art doesn't try to be particularly refined and the characters really aren't glamorized. But the odd underlying dynamics keep adding up: where are all the parents? What's with all the murders and why are so many of the kids so nonchalant about them? It's answered (to a point) at the end but in the meantime you get some real laughs and touching teen moments. A very fun read.
