This book is phenomenal. The story revolves around the murder of Savvy, the small town princess. While technically unsolved, the whole town knows who did it - her best friend, Lucy, who cannot remember a single thing about the night Savvy was killed. Enter Ben Owens and his true crime podcast. He determines to solve this case. Told in Lucy’s POV and from the podcast’s POV. The characters are quirky. But the people of the town are insufferable. They have built up the victim as a paragon of virtue while Lucy is the devil incarnate. They are willing to overlook the “flaws” of everyone else but believe every rumor that flies about Lucy. Did she kill her best friend? Was it Lucy’s husband? Or a jealous rival? Honestly, while a resolution is given at the end, it’s told from a certain angle and I’m left wondering is it actually true? I guess that all depends on how well you trust the one telling you.
