Venus in the Blind Spot by Junji Ito
4.0
I read The Enigma of Amigara Fault years ago, and then saw it existed in this collection, so snatched it up. I’d never read any of Ito’s other work, so it was definitely interesting. There’s nothing wrong with a good ol’ fashioned ghost story!
One thing Ito does really well is not feeling the need to explain everything. Sometimes shit is just weird and fucked up—and that’s okay! The scariest part of any story, real or not, is the aspect of the unknown.
I gotta say that The Human Chair and Amigara Fault are by far the creepiest. The imagery of Amigara Fault in particular has and will continue to stick with me the rest of my life.
