The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater

5.0

I finished reading The Raven Cycle for the first time, terribly late to the party. My greatest takeaway from this series was an enormous love for the characters. Each character I got to meet in this series was so well-written, I am attached to everyone. Ronan Lynch most of all, but that’s not to say I don’t have huge places in my heart for Blue, Gansey, Adam, Noah, everyone at Fox Way, Henry, even Opal. Lol

If you haven’t read this series, and you don’t want to go in blind like I did, here’s the brief recap. Blue Sargent is the daughter of a psychic, living in a house full of psychics, but she is not one. Her entire life she has been told by every psychic she meets that one day she will kiss her true love and he will die. Enter Thee Raven Boys, Adam, Gansey, and Ronan. Three students at a private school, three boys she doesn’t have much in common with, but they become close and very devoted friends.

Blue first meets Gansey in a very odd way, on St. Mark’s Eve, a night where clairvoyants can see the “soon-to-be dead,” Blue sees and speaks to Gansey. Gansey is searching for a magical ley line, Ronan is his fiercely loyal troublemaker best friend, Adam is a hardworking scholarship student with a crush on Blue, and Noah is a ghost. I truly don’t even want to say much else for risk of too much spoiling.

This series is a whirlwind of supernatural occurrences, drama, and friendship. Found family, really. It’s so beautiful to see these teenagers take each other into their lives without a second thought. They all share everything! These characters will occupy my mind for a long time. This is going up there in the teen series favorites!

⚠️ Spoiler zone real quick though for all my friends who have read:
Ronan!!! Lynch!!! And Adam!!! Parrish!!! Oh my GOD!!! Blue and Gansey obviously, obviously mean very much to me but oh my GOD!!! My whole world shifted when I read the words, “Adam lived in an apartment located above the office of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a fortuitous combination that focused most of the objects of Ronan’s worship into one downtown block.” Thank you, Maggie 🧎🏻‍♀️
