Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino

3.0

This was conceptually interesting and, as a listen, not boring or anything. But the rpose was thematically reflective of the central character, an alien born on Earth for the purpose of learning about humans and Earth and returning that information to her handlers/home planet. So it was mostly Tell Don't Show, but it worked as a device. Still and all, about two thirds of the way through I started to wish that Bertino hadn't drawn her characters as well as she had, because I would have liked to have heard a bit more of the actual stories of them, rather than just the fact capture, report, possible conclusion. I'll go read other reviews. I'm sure this is an even bigger metaphor for autism or something else. So yes, but... grain of salt.
