The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu

4.0

3.75 - This writing style is one that I’ve never really seen done before but I liked it! Ken Liu in this books writes a story that feels like a top down historical view of an entire country with conflict, rising fame, and a lot of quick deaths. This made a really cool telling of a story that I hadn’t experienced but in doing that, (for me) it didn’t deliver the detail that’s needed in order to really latch on to characters and get a more specific picture of what’s going on. Things moved so quickly that it really did feel like a history book at times! That being said, I really loved the plot and the characters were pretty fascinating! I would definitely recommend this book knowing that it could be someone’s favorite book while being a DNF for another just because of the style.
