A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne
5.0
4.5/5 stars — I loved it!
Don't be put off by how long it took me to finish reading this! For one thing, it's a hefty book, hitting just over 600 pages; second, it was the holidays and I didn't have time to gobble the story up the way I would have liked. Because it was really, really good. My introduction to Kevin Hearne was the Tales of Pell he co-authors with Delilah Dawson, and I was happy A Plague of Giants had some of the same offbeat humor and sharp-witted characters.
In short, A Plague of Giants was a weighty and wonderful novel—absolutely worth making time to read. It's the first installment in what has the makings of an epic tale. My only quibble with it was a somewhat abrupt ending, and that'll be a nonissue when the sequel releases in early February. If the semi-cliffhanger bothers you, move right on to the next book!
