Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

5.0

Consider this review one that encompasses the current four books in this series. I say that because I essentially read them back to back because I couldn't stop!

Here's the thing, I often avoid graphic novels because in m experience they have been... just fine. But this series!! OMG I'm in love. I just cannot get over how freaking cute the story is. Nick and Charlie start out as friends and the become... well a bit more than that. We watch them fall in love and navigate high school drama/judgement all whilst dealing with stuff going on in their own lives (triggers: absent father, homophobic brother, depression/self harm, OCD, anorexia).

I don't know how Oseman does it but she manages to create a story which makes me smile even though, at times, there is so much sadness. Maybe it's the hopeful atmosphere? All I know is that I love this series and defs need to get around to reading more Oseman!
