I think Book 2 was slightly better than Book 1, but I still strongly prefer the third book in the series.
In this second book, we are reintroduced to the characters of the first book. The topics covered in this book: recovery from attempted suicide (which is quite an ordeal for both the victim and the caregivers), infertility/adoption/abortion/pregnancy, and DNA testing. It sounds like a lot to take in, I know, but it was a fairly good read.
