I read this book years ago and have had it stuck in my child memory for years now! Upon re-read, I enjoyed the descriptive tone O'Brien used - it continued my love of all things tiny, cozy, and secretive. I want to live in the middle of a rose bush, too.
I found it wanting in the end, though, and I'm thinking I may have to read his daughter's follow up books.
