As I lay here, having neglected my responsibilities to finish this book, my chest is aching. This book chewed me up and spat me out. It is unendingly sad and I couldn’t put it down. Solomon explores the concept of a model home abstracted — somehow interweaving reflections on race and gender in America, sibling dynamics, mental illness, grooming, abuse, and the path to repair.
