Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
5.0
a truly moving story about two sisters that only learn about each other after their father dies in a plane crash that kills all passengers.
i loved how different acevedo managed to make the two girls, how unique their voices where and how strong they both were in their own ways.
i loved how this book was just as much about learning to grief, move on and love but also about jealously, hate and survival.
it was a beautiful mixture of life as it truly is.
messy
wild
beautiful
hard to take
and sometimes takes you breath away be it for good or horrible reasons.
i loved how acevedo made parents real people, that have a life for and after their children are born and that is not always aligned with what the child dreams up about their parent.
and it’s beautiful how the mother in this book steps up.
for me this book was beautiful and made me tear up at two moments which is only mentioned because that rarely happens!
if you plan to read this?
i highly recommend you do so and fast!
and if you are unsure but read this review so far?
go pick this book up!
if nothing else you will learn about a real airplane crash that never left the mind of the author and inspired her to write this book because to her the media stopped too soon in reporting a out the crash that was the second deadliest aviation crash in the usa!
