The Night Shift by Alex Finlay
5.0
The Night Shift was on my highly anticipated books and it lived up to it's expectation! The book had me reading up until 3AM. If I didn't have things to do, I would have read it in one sitting. What a ride! I honestly had a fun time reading this one.
I really love the style of writing. The pacing was great and I appreciated the short chapters (which kept me on the edge of my seat). Make sure to check out Every Last Fear if you enjoy this one!
The whole time I was reading this I didn't realize that Sarah was in Every Last Fear. I have a memory like a goldfish, okay! Ha. Out of sight, out of mind.
I actually enjoyed the different POVs and timelines. Sometimes multiple can get overwhelming, but this time it worked for me. I didn't mind the chapters switching to another POV just when we were about to find out about something. It kept me intrigued and continued to speed through the chapters.
The plot was clever and I loved the Y2K mention. Reading about Blockbuster brought back some memories. It reminded me that I missed the ritual of hiring movies.
Spoilers!
I hate that Ella never told anyone that she was with Vince instead of Katie. That could had made things slightly different for the case.
Never trust teachers... (kidding or not...)
You could probably guess some twists but it was still enjoyable. I was disappointed that there wasn't more closure for the characters though. I felt for them and wanted to find out how things turned out.
I'd definitely recommend this book for mystery fans.

Vince deserved better! I had a feeling that was the case but I had hoped he would have been reunited with his brother.I hate that Ella never told anyone that she was with Vince instead of Katie. That could had made things slightly different for the case.
