This is set in war but is really about love and loyalty. Vianne and Isabelle navigate the circumstances author Kristin Hannah gives them in remarkable page-turning ways. This was a re-read for me and I’m so glad because I had forgotten so many details. Who are we kidding? I will forget again. But I won’t forget the power this book has to let me walk in someone else’s shoes for a time, considering my own relationships and what I might do in the worst of circumstances. Strongly recommend this novel set in WWII even if you’ve sworn off this genre for a bit. You won’t regret knowing these characters and reading a book with a perfect ending.
