This is a book that will stay with me for a long time, I’m so glad I got a review copy from Simon Schuster Canada because it’s probably not something I would have normally picked up and I ended up being blown away by it! I think it might even go down as one of my favourite non fictions reads of 2023, that’s how excellent it was. It’s such a stunning and yet heart wrenching story, I had absolutely no idea that Rastafarian culture treated women so horribly and reading about it from someone who lived through it and carved her own way was beautiful. The author lived through such awful things and yet she broke free and made a beautiful life for herself and reading about it made me feel like I can make it through my own struggles. I really can’t recommend this memoir highly enough!
