I hate Marius so this was kind of hard to get through but the descriptions of what everyone else said and did made it easier. Every other character was way more interesting than Marius.
So far in the series had evidence of Marius being Weird about Pandora and Armand, and now Marius expanded that to Zenobia (which, Eudoxia was also creepy. Honestly her and Marius should have just remained together and left everybody else alone) and Bianca. He's such a creep and is so pretentious and full of himself (and not in an entertaining way like Lestat) ugh I just can't stand him. Only turns Bianca because he was in trouble and needed her help, then pretends he would've done it anyway because he just loves her so much, then moves them to a town in the hopes of seeing Pandora again and lies to Bianca about it. When he finally does find Pandora and she doesn't want to get back with him he begs her and says he'll leave Bianca for her. But when it doesn't work he goes back to Bianca saying "my precious darling, because I love you, I love you more than I have ever loved you, and I need you." Bianca's response is so delicious though "I heard the things you said to her. And I'm leaving you." The beginning of chapter 33 is my favorite part of the whole book, Marius begging Bianca to stay with him as she calmly gets everything in order to leave and doesn't give him an inch.
"But what I want now is to talk of you and me," I said, "and how it's always been between us."
"Yes, you may do that if you wish," she said, "if it makes the pain less for you, but Marius, I am going."
Though Pandora actually having written to Marius to ask for help soured it for me. Girl, stand up!
I wish Marius had killed Santino at the end so Maharet would either kill him or lock him up for eternity so we won't have to hear from him again. But alas, we'll probably still hear about him in the rest of the series. I just hope it isn't too much.
