The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
5.0
This was a fast-paced, engaging read. I carried the characters with me when I wasn't reading and couldn't wait to get back to them. This is what I read for.
The female characters were strong and real, something I don't see often enough. Of course you can be strong while being scared, uncertain, or even weak. But some writers don't think women can be that complex. Quinn does.
The book is a fictional account of real events and people. Quinn outlines at the end of the book what was real and what she invented, and what was real was astounding. Wait until after reading the novel, however, to read the Author's Note--spoilers, sweetie!
I only have one criticism and that's for the book designer: The header font is difficult to read for anyone over the age of 25. It's too light and thin. It looks good, but what help is that if I can't read what it says?
