I was so hesitant going into this book as Sci-Fi is not my usual genre. Not only that but this series has such a loyal following and constant positive reviews, I was worried I was going to be in the minority.
I had nothing to worry about however, as I genuinely loved this book.
It is fast paced, but never felt too rushed. There is something happening in every chapter, but it never felt confusing. The writing was so palatable and well thought out, it was extremely hard to not devour this book in one go.
The story itself is compelling and moving. I had cried before I’d even reached 100 pages in.
I got so invested in all the characters, I have a feeling as the books progress they have the potential to be one of the best ‘found families’ I’ve read. Sevro already has my loyalty (although I have a feeling this is a series where it’s best not to pick a favourite?)
I cannot wait to see what happens next in Darrow’s journey and whether he can keep himself focused on his end goal.
