[January 4, 2021] I had a lot of fun reading this novella, particularly thanks to Murderbot whose sarcasm and navigation of their world were a delight. I immediately placed a hold for the next (and the next) entries in the series, and can imagine that my love will only grow from here.

That said, while all the parts of this are done well, it felt like a very tried and true story with nothing particularly new. And being a novella, there wasn't a ton there to distract from some of the flatness of the non-Murderbot characters or the lightning speed of the "mystery" and story. In such a tiny package, all those little less-than-shiny parts (like some of the repetitiveness when it came to characterizing Murderbot) (we get it, they like TV) were rather glaring.

It didn't really detract from my enjoyment, overall, but it left a little to be desired from a more critical standpoint. Would travel with Murderbot, tho.

[December 3, 2023] Marking for reread.
