Lothaire by Kresley Cole

Well, I devoured this. Obviously Lothaire has been the most interesting character in this series (besides Nix), so I was excited to get his story.

I feel like Kresley Cole pulled out all the stops for this one! It had a heroine who - despite being mortal - gave Lothaire a run for his money and never failed to stand up to him. It had wonderful side characters (Thaddeus is a minor…Thaddeus is a minor…) And it gave us one of the most interesting villains so far.

And besides being an amazing story on its own, we got more answers about the series as a whole in this book than we’ve gotten in almost all the previous books combined, curtesy of a mind-boggling confrontation between Lothaire and Nix. God, I loved it so much.

My only drawback was the introduction of ANOTHER faction of vampires. The Dacians didn’t really grab my attention, and I can’t say I’m looking forward to future books that drag the attention away from the rest of the Lore to focus on them. Fingers crossed Kresley manages to magically weave the two worlds together!
