Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant

5.0

I'll first say, this book as not as terrifying as many of the reviews stated. I spook pretty easy, but this one didn't really bother me as other horror books have. That being said, I LOVED this story.

If you enjoy science (a load of it!) then you'll appreciate the amount of detail Grant put into her story. parts were slow at times, especially with the constant change of POV, but as a whole I found the story fascinating. Grant's unique take on mermaids did make them feel scary and just, so cool! I didn't particularly click with any of the characters. Normally this would be a drawback but with all the chaos going on, it was easy to look over. And boy, is there chaos. Don't get too attached to anyone because as we find out within the first couple of chapters, anyone is fair game.

I also had no idea this was the first book in a series. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

I can't help but wonder if Producers from Underwater took a couple of notes from this book.....
